Día De Gracias Fundraiser Exceeds Goal

Amazing News! We exceeded our goal and raised over $75,000 to fully fund these three organizations' proposals.

We are so excited to fund Valley Voices, Valley Forward and the Dolores Huerta Foundation to help them thrive in the Central Valley. Our support of locally-based grassroots organizations, who know their own communities best, is a proven and crucial strategy for taking back our democracy. This is the beginning of what we hope will be a long-term commitment to the future of the Central Valley.

But, these three organizations will need consistent support for the next year until the 2022 election.

Can you become a monthly donor?

Your donation is tax deductible for the portion you donate to the Dolores Huerta Foundation and Valley Voices. When you give to Valley Forward your donation goes toward partisan work and is not tax deductible. We believe Valley Forward's work is equally important to fund, and we suggest that you split your donation equally among all three groups.

About the Event

Día de Gracias recognized the hard working Californians who live in the Central Valley and produce much of the food that graces our Thanksgiving tables. Día de Gracias featured three speakers who discuss the work these organizations are doing on the ground in our target counties:

Redistricting: Lori Pesante, director of civic engagement & government relations for the Dolores Huerta Foundation, will explain the redistricting process and how her team works collaboratively with communities and organizations to create election maps that give fair representation to the Latino majority in the district. That, in turn, will impact the outcome of elections in the district over the next 10 years.

Equity and Civic Engagement: Antony López, city manager of Avenal in Kings County, will describe how COVID education and the pop-up vaccination clinics organized by Valley Voices are helping address the pandemic among the Spanish-speaking population. Kings County has one of the highest immigrant death rates of any county in California. Residents who receive help with COVID vaccinations from Valley Voices are more likely to be receptive to later encouragement to vote in elections.

Voter Engagement and Turnout: Brenda Cabrera, deputy campaign manager for Valley Forward, who knocked on doors to turn out voters in the recall election, will talk about her canvassing experiences and Valley Forward’s amazing outreach work and plan to engage Democrats to vote in the vitally important 2022 midterm election.
