Moving forward—The time for community grassroots organizing begins today!
Driving is a key part of life in CD22, where this rural, agricultural district has many spread out, small communities that are hard to reach.
All of us are struggling with the changes wrought by the November election. What is happening in this country now is alarming. Who would have thought our government could be dismantled so quickly, our place in the world as a beacon of freedom and democracy be shattered in a moment? We know the going is tough, but we’re ready to get going!
As Kamala said: “The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for, but hear me when I say: The light of America’s promise will always burn bright, as long as we never give up, and as long as we keep fighting.”
And that is exactly what Central Valley Matters is doing in the Valley, in Congressional District 22 (CD22).
Some have asked: Why should CVM continue to work in CD22 when it’s proved so difficult to oust the incumbent Republican Representative David Valadao?
Shouldn’t we just give up?
We believe, as do many political observers, that Valadao and other Republican incumbents are newly vulnerable to losing voters when they support including cuts to Medi-Cal, that will hurt their constituents.
Starting now we know we can win!
